Insights

8 min remaining

It is simpler for website owners to propose marriages than to write solid About Me pages.

This is the case.

These pages are easy to create when you’re making a living online. But, it doesn’t mean they’re always good.

What makes an About Me Page a great page?

The About Me Page is often your most visited page. Learn how easy it is to make one that is both user-friendly as well as extremely useful.

Your readers and your business will enjoy a great About Me Page.

It builds trust and allows someone the freedom to make the right decision about how they want to improve their relationship.

What should I write about myself?

A strong About Me template can be likened to a strong copywriting proposition.

  • Show us what you have
  • Explain what it will do to your website, visitors
  • What they can next do to get more out of your company

This is a chance to explain to someone why you are better than someone like them.

Do not think about what you want to say in About Me. This is just like when you create a tagline.

Your website should be a reflection of the unique value you provide and the products and services that you offer.

7 errors you should avoid when creating an About Me Page

Websites that don’t do better make some mistakes.

These errors can be easily corrected by your website visitors.

These are the seven most common mistakes when rebranding a business.

Missing page:

You can have interesting content, a custom header, and a sweet design.

An About page is all you need.

Some people might believe that “About Pages” is a cliché.

It’s possible to be afraid of writing an About Page.

It could have been called “Experience”, The Scoop, or “But Wait!” There’s More! “

Remember Steve Krug’s words Don’t Make Me Think when you think about your website or blog’s interface.

You don’t want me to wonder if my “Resonate Page”, which is where you can learn more about yourself, your work, and why you should be visiting my site, is your page.

Now, it’s time to create an About Me page. This is About.

2. It was a mistake: Your name and credentials are not found

Let’s say I want to tweet something about your blog or link you.

I’d love to know who you are.

This is not spammy like “The Real Estate Kings”. (Please don’t comment under these names. It is an awful way to look.

Your name. Your name.

Unless you are Madonna, you will need to have a last name.

You might also want to add your middle name if your name is Dave Smith or Cathy Johnson. This will make your name memorable and improve your chances of being found in search engines for your name.

It worked well for Carole Sevilla Brown, David Meerman Scott, and others. Choose a family name that goes with your middle name.

It doesn’t have to be your real name.

It’s okay.

Be sure to mention your credentials while you’re there. These are the things that will show us you truly know your subject.

Registered dieticians can add a link to their nutrition website.

List any awards and certifications you have received.

Mistake #3: You don’t look like me.

This is my advice on how to make an About Page. People can be harassed or abused more if they post a photo.

I am more comfortable hiring you and referring you to others, recommending you, or passing along some readers to you if you know who you are.

I need to feel that feeling. It takes two things: your writing voice and your photograph.

It’s easier to remember your name if you can give me a face.

I will link to you more if I feel that I understand your content marketing goals.

4. Boring writing

This is the worst. Let’s get on to better topics.

When they create an About Me Page, They suddenly lose all knowledge of writing engaging content.

This is the solution to the terrible problem

  • Use your voice
  • Be strict about removing corporate-speak or hypey jargon.
  • Be funny if you can pull it off.
  • If it is a part of your identity, don’t hesitate to express it.

Here I will look for more information about you and your personality.

You can only use my writing voice if your goal is to avoid using a photograph.

5th Mistake: Use video

Video can be a great way to quickly build trust on your About Page…for site visitors who love video.

Visitors to your site might not like the sound of your voice coming out of their cubicle speakers.

It is possible that you don’t have the time or patience to figure out who your real self is in 6:23.

Video is a popular medium for web users.

Your About Page should contain a video that is both short and engaging. If you wish, you can include text for your visitors.

Mistake #6: You continue (and on)

I love storytelling.

The stories are incredible.

It’s not hard to find long boring stories.

Tell me about your journey, if possible.

What is your audience most interested in? The people they are talking to and what interests them.

These two places are great for brainstorming ideas on how to make an About Me Page.

I made a mistake #7: Your About Page is about you

This is normal

Many site owners don’t realize that the About Page is about who viewed it.

Tell them why they should visit your site.

You have the option to expand on the problems you solve.

Tell us how we can help.

It is important to share interests.

To quote Brian Clark:

What are you looking for? Understanding who your friends and family are is essential.

Create a Marketing Story People Like and Share

You can talk about yourself in this section, but only within the context that you are doing for others

Self-absorption can be a problem. You can create a blog, or social media account, and add a link.

Share all details but warn others. This is the place to discuss your cat’s gluten sensitivity.

Your About Page should focus on the reader and what you can do to help them.
