2017 promises to be a great year for female entrepreneurs, especially young women. Every day, women overcome obstacles and challenge the odds. We must inspire the next generation of women to achieve their goals. Recent statistics indicate that women are becoming more involved in the creation of new businesses and organizations. Women are now creating more companies today than ever before.

Latest Progress for Women in Business

Today, there are over 9 million women-owned businesses in America. Entrepreneur reports that women-owned businesses have experienced 1.5 times the growth rate of small businesses over the past 15 years. Entrepreneur predicts that women-owned businesses will create more than 5,000,000 jobs by 2018.

It was not easy for women to own a business. The 1974 Equal Credit Act was a major step towards women owning businesses. This law prohibits discrimination based on sex and marital status in credit granting. It also made it possible to get loans for women to start their own businesses.

Women have grown their influence in many industries over the 43 years that this law has been in effect. The Marshall School of Business at USC reported that one-fifth of businesses with annual revenue of over $1 million are owned by women. The entrepreneur claims that companies with at least one woman on the executive team are more likely to receive higher estimates during their first round of funding.

Outstanding Women in Business

USC Marshall’s study also found that only 30% of all companies are led by women. Highlighting women who are already successful is a great way to encourage others to start their own businesses. Although outdated ways of thinking about women are no longer relevant in Western countries, it is important to highlight women who have achieved their business goals to show the world the powerful effects of following your dreams.

Every day, women invent and transform the business world. New ventures that are spearheaded by strong women are emerging every day due to changes in long-held beliefs regarding women’s abilities. It’s not easy to start a new business, especially when you consider how competitive modern business can be. These 20 women are some of the most inspirational female business leaders right now. We are equally impressed with all these women so they are not listed in any particular order.
