I spent 15 years teaching writers and then watching them improve their writing skills.
Over the years, I’ve mentored dozens of writers and seen something in each.
What I saw was an assortment of qualities that make exceptional writers.
Good writers make it easy to understand the content. It is also important to know what a comma means.
If you have the right structure, your writing will be concise and clear. Your creativity will make your presentation stand apart.
A remarkable writer’s characteristics
The typical writer’s list will include habits that are common to many professions (obsessions and perseverance, getting up when it is convenient, reading a lot, etc. ).
It’s too simple.
I’m looking for qualities that make you a great writer.
This is not an easy task. Here’s my story.
1. Fantastic writers can analyze content.
A remarkable writer can:
- Look at a sales letter and you will see the problem immediately. Then, present the solution.
- Find the flaws and take a story.
- Give advice and discuss a speech.
Many other professions do the same thing. The secret to this is in the language and mechanics.
They avoid commonly misused words, common grammar mistakes, and the various types of.
They have an intuition for the words, and methods, that will supercharge great Email Marketing Tips, methods to write magnetic content, and techniques for formatting scannable text.
Although editors can analyze content, I believe they are more adept at writing.
Let’s keep trying.
2. Exceptional writers can connect the dots
Visionary is an extraordinary writer.
She might appear to be buried in a book spine with her nose, but she is actually scanning her mind for potential material and recording them away.
She does this subconsciously. It’s only a matter of time before she sees something that clicks, and a web full of associations lights up. She sees something she’s never seen before.
- You can bring this character to life
- Close this post
- Feel the emotion
She is essentially a problem-solver who can overcome mental blocks.
Entrepreneurs are also included. College football coach. The thing that sets the exceptional apart from all the rest is their ability to solve problems.
Fair enough.
What is it that problem-solving authors can do differently from other professions? They use sentences. Paragraphs.
There is nothing new. Let’s get on with the next.
3. Exceptional writers can express ideas clearly
It is often difficult for me to get into new social situations. I find it difficult to express my opinions or agree to a position until my thoughts are fully clear.
I don’t want to sound stupid.
Sometimes I have multiple answers to the same question in a conversation. But, these responses can be muddled by emotions or unresolved positions.
You’re not the only one. Mary Gaitskill, a novelist/short-story writer said it.
Writing can be described as being able to sit down, go over all the information the next day, find words, give shape to images, and then link them with thoughts and feelings. It’s not about persuading or sharing information. You are more likely to reveal something, whether it’s a person, place, or image that you are sharing information about.
This ability can only be used by writers, particularly introverted ones.
Side note: I’ve learned to communicate my opinions without feeling stupid in conversations. I use the phrase “I’m thinking loudly here” to communicate my opinions and then speak to others as if they were writing.
They might be able to hear someone taking a different route, and then finding it difficult.
I might feel lost. I’m exploring.
4. Exceptional writers can write directly from their heads
I keep an account of my ideas.
I have had a few ideas but can’t remember the details.
These are my methods.
Your mind is yours.
- Follow these principles to create your headline
- The headline can be used in 20 different ways until you feel comfortable.
- Take it down as often as you can.
- Next paragraph. Keep going.
I wrote The headline I used for my blog post was I was talking to my wife, who was sleeping next to me.
Next, I worked on the lead. I wrote the post the next morning.
This little story is not something I share to boast about, but it is because it works. It is the reason I admire the writers who use the technique.
“Be patient before you can write well. “
Klinkenborg answered the question about his “writing process” as
“I try to think calmly and come up with sentences in my head. “
Many amazing writers write from their heads.
Incredible writers read with deep purpose
There are three types of readers.
- Libertarian — He can read what he wants. You can also find National Geographic magazines, shampoo bottles, and even National Geographic magazines.
- Social conservatives – He’s more careful about what he reads. Oprah may suggest a book to him. To narrow his reading choices, he uses social media experts.
- Extremists – This Ph.D. is getting her doctorate in medieval chemistry. A writer gets obsessed with one topic.
Writers can absorb books for long periods.
6. The snow shovel is used by some of the most creative writers.
This is the metaphor I use for rewriting. Let’s see.
Start with a foot of snow. Then, shovel the sidewalk (page). Wipe your forehead with your cap.
It began snowing during your shoveling.
It’s falling fast and it’s coming down hard.
You smile and shrug, then you move on. That’s how American essayist, critic, and novelist Walter Kirk described it:
Writing a book requires confidence. Persistency is what’s required after that. Politicians and seducers are blessed with confidence. Persistence is a trait termites have. “
Writers have a unique ability to rework text without making it redundant. This is what makes a great author stand out from all the rest.
Let’s end by doing this experiment.
I did it! Did you describe traits that were completely unusual to writers?
Let’s try this little experiment to determine if the following list is accurate. Remove the headline and then evaluate the list based on what I wrote.
You are welcome.
