My brain is only working at 50% capacity because we haven’t yet had our second coffee. our work does not stop just because our brain doesn’t cooperate. This blog post still needs to be written.
AI can help you with your article. , AI can’t do the job for me. But it can help.
It’s almost as if we had a second cup of coffee with AI at our side. Almost.
Why should you use AI to write?
When we were first struggling with writer’s block, we turned to AI. Instead of procrastinating with our cat Winnie when we needed a new blog post idea, we would turn to get our creative juices moving.
OpenAI’s GPT can be used to generate content ideas.
Once we got more comfortable using AI, we realized that it could streamline our entire writing process – from brainstorming to editing. AI can’t take over our job yet (I’m unable to get it to produce anything that we would send to editors), but it allows us to deliver content faster and with fewer errors. AI makes us better at our work.
Content marketing writers can use AI in 5 different ways
As a child, we romanticized being a writer. we imagined myself alone in a treehouse, writing award-winning tales with a calligraphy pen. AI helps us in all areas of our writing where we have difficulty.
1. Brainstorming new blog ideas
AI can create new content ideas by analyzing keyword searches, audience preferences, and trends. This can help generate new concepts that are then transformed into content that gets clicks and views. If we need help with brainstorming, we use Google Bard. It is connected to Google Keyword Planner and is internet-connected.
I will enter a prompt such as “Brainstorm ideas for blog posts about AI for new writers.” Include the latest trends and top content that engages your audience. “Format it as a chart.”
If we don’t like any of the ideas, we will do some prompt engineering to get better outputs. If we don’t agree with any of the suggestions, we will do some prompt engineering to produce better results.
As an example:
- Please give us some blog ideas on how writers can utilize AI to stay ahead of the game and not become obsolete. Include examples of how others are writing about this. Organize the table.
- Writers who don’t know anything about AI but want to keep their jobs can benefit from your blog ideas. Include examples of how writers could integrate AI into their writing processes.
- Brainstorm 10 blog topics that revolve around writers who use AI. All ideas should be framed in a way that emphasizes the positive aspects of AI.
2. Research consolidation and gathering
AI is our preferred method for consolidating research because it can process large quantities of data efficiently, pinpoint key points and concisely present them. Since Bard is already part of our writing process and it pulls up current data, we use Bard as a research tool.
Enter a question like “How do writers use AI today?” It summarizes everything we would have had to search for in Google.
After this (albeit basic) initial research, we will be able to dive deeper into specific topics, by entering additional prompts in Bard. For example, “Give us more info on how writers use AI as an editor” or “Are there any studies showing how AI can help writers?” “.
If we want to learn more about the sources that are behind these answers, click on the Google It links at the bottom and read more.
Tip: You may also utilize AI to summarize an article or report. This will allow you to absorb the information more quickly.
3. Create a blog outline with SEO-optimized headers
In this phase of our writing, we use a different AI program, Writesonic. Its SEO Keywords Generator will be used before we create our outline.
This gives us the estimated monthly traffic of top-ranking websites, as well as keyword density and volume.
When we double-check our keywords, we use SEO tools such as Ahrefs or seoClarity. After we have finalized our keywords, Wordsonic’s AI Article Outlines will help us to create a list of possible article topics.
The outline will serve as a starting point. I’ll adjust the tone and the phrasing according to our voice.
Next, we will take complete control of the writing process. I’ve used AI to write articles, but it always ends up requiring us to rewrite them. Once we finish our draft, AI will edit it.
4. Wordsmith clever sentences
We use notion AI for editing because it offers a few helpful prompts: “Make shorter” or “Make longer.” It’s also what we use for task management.
It’s useful when we are stuck and want to find a different way of thinking about something.
Notion may not be the only tool to help you create perfect sentences. There are many AI tools available. If we don’t get what we want from Notion AI, then we will switch to Writesonic which has similar prompts for writing the perfect sentence.
5. AI can be used for editing and proofreading
The editors can catch typos, but they shouldn’t. Before sending our work to our editors, we run it through an AI Grammar Checker. This allows them to focus on the human-necessary aspects of article structure and tone.
You’re likely already using an AI-powered app. The Grammarly plug-in is what we use to edit and proofread all our writing before it goes to our editors.
Grammarly makes editing Google Docs easy. It will highlight the grammatical mistake, and we can use right-clicking to correct it.
Other popular editing programs include Hemingway and ProWritingAid. When we are working on a long and complicated blog post, sometimes we will use Writesonic in conjunction with Grammarly. This gives us extra peace of mind knowing that I’ve avoided making any silly mistakes for our editors.
How to use AI ethically in your writing career
The same slogans would be used by everyone if AI were to replace content marketers. Not that we want to be reminded that “anything’s possible,” but a human touch helps brands stand out. We need to ensure that a human is still reviewing the content as AI becomes more and more a part of writing workflows.
Consider the following tips to use AI ethically when you are a writer:
- Be transparent. Inform your readers if AI is responsible for significant portions of your content. This can be mentioned in the author’s note, the text, or at the end of the article.
- Give quality control a high priority: Make sure your content meets quality standards. Do not rely solely on AI-generated content. You can use it as a base and then add your voice, style, and thoughts.
- Verify the facts: AI is not always accurate. It can make mistakes, give incorrect information, or even create hallucinations. Double-check all the information provided.
- Avoid plagiarism. AI-powered tools can paraphrase the writing of others and use their research and writing to create their responses. Make sure you check any AI-generated material for plagiarism and give credit to the source.
- Monitor bias: AI can show biases just like humans. Check that recommendations for ideas and content are not biased toward a particular group or demographic.
By keeping these ethical considerations at the forefront of your mind, you can maintain your credibility as a writer, while maintaining individuality and trust.
Write faster and better content with AI
AI is the future of writing, and we think it’s time to get on board. AI tools can improve your writing, save you time and increase your productivity. As a writer, you can be more competitive and relevant. Why would you not take advantage of a robotic assistant that can act like a second coffee cup? I’m sure we will.
