A Generative AI can create words, images, and more based on a prompt. Creators are already finding it useful. It helps me with everything, from generating new ideas to putting them on paper, to exploring different tones and perspectives.
It’s important to note that our goal is not to replace humans as creators. I do not believe this is possible.
It can be intimidating to get started with AI. We’ll walk you through eight different prompts that will help you with the different stages of email writing.
What exactly is a prompt?
The text that you enter into an AI-based writing tool is called a prompt. These instructions will be used by the tool to write your content.
It is important to write a prompt that will get responses that sound interesting and natural. We want to create tools that don’t require you to even think about prompts. However, it is helpful to understand how to interact with AI models.
You should learn this about prompt writing:
The better the results, the more specific the request.
Include things like your audience, goal, tone of voice, and length of response.

Brainstorming ideas for your newsletter
AI Prompt:
Please give me three ideas for articles to include in my newsletter on [add topic]. Add your target audience to the list. Avoid topics like [list of topics that you have already covered or find boring].
AI can be very useful in introducing new ideas that you may have yet to consider. We use AI to come up with new ideas for how to communicate the topics that are important to our audience.
Sometimes, a single bullet-point idea will get us going.
This prompt shows that we are not just telling AI what topics we would like to see, but also what we don’t want them to include because they are boring or we have already covered them.
Transform your rough ideas into an email
AI Prompt:
Condense this idea into an email draft that is easy to understand: [Your loose notes]
When testing the AI tool with early users we heard repeatedly how useful it is to turn a great idea into words and put it in their newsletter.
We’re all not natural writers. It doesn’t mean that we don’t think of great ideas. We should still share them with the world.
This prompt allows you to turn a series of bullet points, or stream-of-consciousness sentences into a coherent message.
A first draft email on a specific topic
AI Prompt:
You can write a draft of my email on [add a topic and some details]. Include a call to action that encourages the reader to [add an action]. It should be written to [add the target audience] using a tone of [add tone] voice.
This is the one I use all the time. The funny thing is, I have never used the results I get without significant edits. I still find it useful because the white, blank screen is removed.
Even if I have to rewrite the whole thing, just having a framework gives me momentum.
This prompt contains a few useful things:
- Include a section on the call to action. This forces me to consider my goals and ensures that my content moves my readers in the right direction.
- Include a tone to make the response seem more real.
Add a subject and preheader to your email
AI Prompt:
Create a subject and preheader for my email. The subject line and preheader should be interesting enough for someone to pick it up in their inbox, open it and read more. The subject line and preheader must be less than 50 characters. [Add your email content]
Your subject line and a newsletter. He needed help figuring out how to convey specific tactics. This prompt led him to several useful steps that people can take to grow their businesses.
Create a “discount” for your book or course
AI Prompt:
Write one paragraph to promote my [product or services]. It will have [add benefits for customers] on people who use it. Include a call to action that encourages readers to [add a call to action] and focuses on their benefit. It should be written to [add the target audience] using a tone of [add tone] voice.
We aren’t all-natural salespeople. It can feel like bragging when I write about the amazing things my products are capable of.

This prompt will help you to create a simple ad unit to promote your courses and ebooks.
Use your own story to illustrate a point
AI Prompt:
Write a story about [share your personal story] for my newsletter. Refer to it about [add call-to-action]. It should be written to [add the target audience] with [add a tone of voice].
Your email will not be read by most people if it doesn’t contain an intriguing hook. That’s it.
One of the best hooks we’ve come across is a personal experience that’s related to the lesson or product you are trying to sell. This prompt will help you use something from your own life to segue into your lesson or product.
Create an introduction paragraph for your email
AI Prompt:
Write a brief introductory paragraph about [topic] for my email to keep my readers reading. It should be written to [add the target audience] using a tone of [add voice] voice. This paragraph should introduce your email: [add the email content]
This prompt can help you come up with another hook that will pique the interest of your readers and make them want to read your email.
Conclude your email with a summary
AI Prompt:
Write a paragraph of 2-3 sentences for my email to summarize my thoughts and to direct my readers to [add a call to action]. It should be written to [add the target audience] with a tone of [add voice] voice. This paragraph should end this email. [Add your email content]
The final paragraph of an email can be one of my most challenging tasks. Either I write a huge paragraph that repeats everything that was in the email, or I write something that is not as good after the great content that I have written in the rest.
This prompt will allow you to summarize the most critical points and direct your readers toward the next steps they should take after reading the email.
