A detailed strategy for countries on Facebook is essential if you want to work quickly with multiple tiers or regions.
This article will discuss ways to add countries into the advertising cabinet and effective tools to work with shooting ranges that save you time.
How do you quickly add countries to your Facebook Ad Sets?
GEO
The creation of an ad set stage brings up the question of selecting countries. You can choose from the list of countries or search for them by using the search bar.
You can also select which people in this area you will display ads for. Facebook has four options to do this:
- This is where people live.
- This location is home to many people.
- This location is home to people who live or visit this area.
- This is where people travel to (travel is a destination that is more than 125 miles / 200km from their home).
The obvious question is: How does Facebook determine where the user is considered to be their home?
Facebook uses multiple signals for determining (or, more realistically, estimating) a user’s location. Facebook may use an IP address, mobile device information, profile data, and sometimes a combination of these signals. Sometimes, they may combine both the IP address and mobile device info. They can also access information from friends’ locations on Facebook.
GEO Lists
Imagine you have 20 GEOs, each with a 2-letter designation. Each tier has 5 GEOs. You have to launch campaigns across all four tiers. How do you do this in a very short time? Easy!
Translate the 2-letter designation into the full country name. quantum created a google spreadsheet that, using Vlookup, indicated the full name.
Once you have collected the complete country names, upload them to Facebook via bulk upload. Click “Add Locations to Bulk” in the Locations section.
There are many options to choose from for loading locations in the window that opens.
- Country
- States or regions
- DMAs (Designated Market Areas)
- Cities
- Postal codes
- Addresses
Initially, this tier had 5 countries. But, after the match, Facebook showed that it had 9 countries. Facebook lists all possible countries that could be associated with the list, which is why there has been an increase in the number of states.
In this case, the United States Virgin Islands and the United States Minor Outlying Islands were used. These countries have been removed from the advertisement.
To save the list, click on Save this field after you have completed removing it. This will save the list of countries for future reference. This is especially useful for multiple UA managers working in one office. This will save them the effort of downloading the entire list of countries multiple times. Instead, they can just open the saved audiences and select the desired country.
Similar to the above, we also create country lists for all levels. All country groups can load ad sets by clicking a button.
It is easy to edit country lists. You can edit country lists by moving your mouse over the saved audience. After that, the Edit button will appear.
Facebook will match you by clicking on the link and then adding more countries. Next, delete any unneeded countries and save the list.
Workflow with Saved Audiences
You can save all audience settings in your custom audience. The parameters of social demography and geography as well as connection and exclude audiences can be saved for the audience. This tool is useful for quickly changing countries within tiers of work campaigns.
After creating the campaigns and dividing them by tiers we launch them. Our LTV is then updated after 10 days. Tier 1 also included Holland. LTV was lower on Tier-1, so it is now time to transfer it to Tier-2. It is important to change quickly the countries of Tier-1 & Tier-2.
Saving the Audiences
Open the ad-set settings to create a saved audience. Click on the Audiences button in the Audiences section. Enter the name of your audience (in this case, TIER1_android_broad), and save it.
To use your saved audiences, you will need all the ad sets. Select all Tier-1 Ad Sets and then select the audience we wish to use from the saved ones.
Editing the Saved Audience
Imagine 20 ads with a TIER1_android_broad audience. We must remove Holland from this ad set. We need to remove Holland from it. To do so, select the ad set that has been saved and clicks Edit.
We can adjust all parameters of the audience by opening the window.
After this, we receive a notification about the modification to the saved audience.
The audience will be updated in ad sets that use this saved audience. Holland will be removed in all 20 ad sets. However, only one of them has been modified.
This method comes with limitations. Facebook will not allow you to change the audience if the same saved audience is used by more than 200 ad sets. This is because not every ad set has changed the audience. It is easy to create a new audience and include it in all your ad sets.
